Great piece, Toby Weston. I was discussing something similar with my parents this morning, but far less contemplative than what you’ve laid out here. Money, markets, exchanges, and much of economies are ether, contrived to instill order and then manipulated by so-called invisible forces. We already have the means to push pause before panic sets in.

Automation is the real deal and I wonder if this time of us all cozy inside away from the office accelerates the move to furthering it. As I understand it, any task that needs repeating three or more times is ripe for automation, including accounting, legal, and basic medical. I’m a big fan of the idea of UBI and I’m curious where all this leads.
