I think this is what sort of turned me off about anal earlier in life - so many men would talk about it and pressure their partners. I was curious but didn't want to be yet another guy pressuring a woman into anal.

You and I roughly the same age and it was taboo back then, but much more mainstream these days. I've experimented off and on and it can be very pleasurable for everyone involved - if you prep correctly.
